Mastering Limiter Shootout – Blind Test Files This download contains lossless, level-matched blind audio files from a mastering limiter shootout. All files are rendered from the same mastered techno track, using an identical analog mastering chain. The only variable is the final software limiter.

Limiters included in the test: iZotope Ozone Maximizer, FabFilter Pro-L 2, DMG Audio Limitless Sonnox Oxford Limiter, TC Electronic BrickWall HD

Each limiter is set to achieve similar loudness and gain reduction, but because these are fundamentally different designs, exact parameter matching is neither possible nor desirable. The goal is to reflect real-world mastering use, not lab conditions.

This test is not about finding a “best” limiter. Different material, aesthetics, and workflows call for different tools — and sometimes the differences are subtle, but meaningful.

Best evaluated on accurate monitoring or high-quality headphones.
