About Aeonica Music
Aeonica Music is an independent analog studio and boutique label founded by Sander van Servellen.
Aeonica serves as both a creative workspace and a public platform where studio insights, gear evaluations, and production experiments are shared openly. From detailed converter shootouts to workflow exploration, Aeonica documents the process behind sound — not just the finished result.
Alongside production work, Aeonica operates as a label. While releases to date have primarily featured Sander’s own projects — electronic music as Servellen and alternative work under his full name — the platform is structured to support future collaborations and additional artists.
Aeonica Music is a place where music is produced, refined, released, and continuously explored.
AEONICA MUSIC — In Conversation with Sander van Servellen
Q1 — What is Aeonica Music?
Aeonica Music is an independent analog studio and music label. It’s where I compose, mix, and master music, document gear reviews and shootouts, and offer focused analog mastering services.
While it currently releases mostly my own work, its foundation is a place where cutting-edge hybrid analog–digital workflows meet creativity and disciplined listening.
Q2 — Why build Aeonica as both studio and public platform?
What is the point of creativity if it is not shared and discoverable?
I wanted both the resulting music and the insights behind its production to be accessible. Aeonica documents converter shootouts, workflow experiments, and production decisions so artists can better understand how sound is shaped — not just the outcome, but the process.
Q3 — What defines the Aeonica production philosophy?
Analog character and digital precision in service of creativity.
The studio is built around high-end analog outboard integrated into a digital workflow. The goal isn’t processing for its own sake, but intentional shaping — harmonic control, stereo depth, and dynamics that translate across systems.
Aeonica seeks to produce high-quality sound at a fair and accessible price.
Q4 — How does mastering fit into Aeonica’s vision?
Mastering is the final and essential step in the production process. Good mastering ensures the right balance, loudness, and dynamic control so music translates across the wide range of systems people listen on — from headphones to clubs.
After years of working with professional mastering engineers, I built a signal path that allows careful, boutique mastering for independent artists. The service remains intentionally limited so each project receives focused attention, alongside my own production work.
Q5 — Aeonica also operates as a label. How do you see that evolving?
At present, the label primarily releases my own music. Structurally, however, it is built to support collaborations and additional artists in the future if the right alignment emerges.
The emphasis will remain selective rather than volume-driven.
Q6 — What role do studio explorations and gear shootouts play?
They serve two purposes.
First, they refine my own listening and decision-making. Comparative tests reveal subtle differences in converters, EQs, and dynamics processors that are difficult to hear in isolation.
Second, they contribute to a more transparent conversation about sound quality. Much online content tells people what to think and may be influenced by commercial interests. I prefer controlled listening tests, shared openly, without prescribing conclusions.
Q7 — Who is Aeonica Music for?
Independent artists who value sound quality and intention.
Producers curious about workflow and decision-making.
And listeners who appreciate the music we produce and release.
Q8 — What about your own music?
I continue to produce melodic electronic music as Servellen and guitar-driven work under my full name. These projects ebb and flow with creative impulse and available time. I recently created a separate website dedicated to my music.
