2026 Converter & Sample Rate Challenge
Aeonica Music
This blind listening pack compares the Universal Audio Apollo X8, Burl Audio B2, and Crane Song converters across multiple sample rates using real mastered music. For less than the price of a coffee, you get rare access to carefully level-matched high-end converter comparisons prepared for serious listening.
All files are level-matched, coded, and anonymized to reduce expectation bias. No logos. No branding. Just your ears and the music.
Included are two full tracks — one downtempo electronic and one rock production — processed through multiple DAC → ADC paths at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz.
Some differences may feel obvious. Others may be surprisingly subtle. The goal is not to declare a universal winner, but to give you rare access to carefully prepared high-end converter comparisons that would normally require an expensive studio environment to experience firsthand.
After listening blind, you can consult the included key file revealing the converter paths, clocking, and processing sample rates used for each version.
Also included:
Full-resolution WAV files
Blind test reveal key (Excel)
Technical methodology PDF
Dedicated sample-rate challenge files
Native-rate and matched-rate comparisons
Every comparison involved extensive routing, clocking, verification, and level-matching work to ensure meaningful results while preserving the integrity of the original material. Differences, if any, may be subtle and system-dependent. Interpretation is left entirely to the listener.
